ITINERARY

Day 1 Kathmandu – Paro – Thimpu

Fly to Paro and be greeted by the fresh cool air, and see the prayer flags fly. Travel on to the capital city of Thimpu. Tour to the National Memorial Chorten, the National Library and Tashichho Dzong, known as the ‘fortress of the glorious religion’, and the current seat of the government. D

Day 2 Thimpu – Punakha

Drive to the zoo to see the creature, takin, an unusual which is the national animal of Bhutan. Visit the Thangthong Dewachen nunnery and the local vegetable market before travelling over the Dochula Pass ‘which sits at 3050m’ on to Punakha. Take a walk to the temple of the ‘Divine Madman’ in the afternoon and observe the magical views. BLD

Day 3 Punakha

Hike through countryside to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal
Chorten. Perched high on the hill with a bird’s eye view of
the valley below, it was built to ward off evil spirits. After a
farmhouse lunch, visit Punakha Dzong by the Pho Chhu and
Mo Chhu rivers. (Optional rafting trip). BLD

Day 4 Punakha – Paro

Travel to Paro, stopping at Dochula Pass for lunch amidst
the Himalayan vista. Paro is in a charming riverbank town
and is also home to many of Bhutan’s oldest temples and
monasteries. Mt. Chomolhari at 7,314m dominates the
northern end of the valley, with its glacial waters plunging
through deep gorges to form the Paro river. BLD

Day 5 Paro

Hike for 2 hours to Tiger’s Nest monastery, an iconic
Bhutanese landmark. The stunning views will compensate
for the energy expended. Legend has it that Guru
Padmasambhava landed here on the back of a Tiger in
the 8th century and then proceeded to meditate for three
months. After lunch visit the picturesque village of DrukgyelDzong. BLD

Day 6 Paro – Kathmandu

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your

  • Enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas from the stunning Dachula Pass, and the fertile valley of Punakha
