Follow our Fallen on the Western Front

Experience France's Battlefields and historic monuments with entrances into some of the most iconic museums from past memorable battles and warfare. Visit the Flanders Fields Museum & Bayernwald Trenches before journeying into a network of tunnels and chambers from World War I on the Western front.

Day 1: Paris Make your way to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening meet your tour manager and the rest of the group for a welcome dinner. D

Day 2: Amiens After breakfast we leave Paris and head for Villers-Bretonneux where we will visit the Franco-Australian Museum, Australian Memorial and Sir John Monash Centre. We will have lunch in a local restaurant before heading to Hamel to see the Australian Corps Memorial Park, then continue to Dernancourt for a walking tour around the town, Rue d’Australie, Pavillon Adelaide, Kangaroo etc, before arriving in Amiens for the evening we make one last stop at the Somme 1916 Museum. BL

Day 3: Amiens – Arras Today our battlefield tour starts with La Boiselle and the Lochnagar Crater, then we head for Pozieres before arriving into Thiepval to visit the Thiepval Memorial and enjoy lunch, in a local restaurant. This afternoon we’ll explore Beamont-Hamel and the Sunken Lane, then Bullecourt for Slouch Hat & Digger Memorials, before heading to Arras and visiting the Wellington Quarries. BL

Day 4: Arras – Ypres This morning we travel to Vimy and visit some trench tunnels and the Vimy Ridge Memorial, continuing to Fromelles where we’ll take in Pheasant Wood Cemetery, VC Corner, Cobber Memorial and the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles. Later we move onto Zillebeke and Hill 60 and the First Australian Tunnelling Company memorial before driving to Ypres. Just before 08:00pm we will meet and then attend the Last Post ceremony at Menin Gate. B

Day 5: Ypres We start the day with a visit to Tyne Cot Cemetery before exploring the battlefields of Passchendaele, with entrance to the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917. Lunch is at a local restaurant in the Passchendaele area, this afternoon we will visit a German Cemetery in Langemark before returning to Ypres for the evening. BL

Day 6: Ypres – Paris Before leaving Ypres we visit the Flanders Fields Museum, then head out to the Bayernwald Trenches. Crossing the border back into France we stop at Naours, where we will explore La Cite Souterraine. This underground city full of a network of tunnels and chambers was a popular sightseeing attraction among World War I soldiers on the Western front. Arriving back into Paris in the afternoon, the rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening we have a farewell dinner cruise along the Seine. BD

Day 7: Paris After breakfast today your journey with us finishes. Speak to friendly reservation staff if you would like to continue your travel within France and Europe. B
